How We Treat

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on thousands of years of clinical experience and has its own diagnostic and differentiation theories for dealing with general health and quality of life. The imbalance of Yin & Yang, the two major concepts, causes various disorders and affects the whole-body systems. Traditional Chinese Medicine treats patterns, not symptoms, in various disease conditions by utilizing acupuncture and herbal medicine, moxibustion, cupping, and food therapy. Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture focuses on general health management and the prevention of diseases by balancing and harmonizing body, mind, and spirit.

Treatments

Acupuncture

Acupuncture treatment is the insertion of fine needles in points along meridians or channels through a person's skin at specific points on the body to various depths. Acupuncture helps relieve multiple ailments, from physical pain to depression and sleep disorders utilizing distal and local body points with stimulation, based on the conditions. Our acupuncture treatment includes scalp acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, and fascia release acupuncture.

Moxibustion / Cupping

Moxibustion is a therapy which consists of burning dried mugwort with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and qi. It can treat conditions associated with the "cold" or "yang deficiencies" in Chinese Medicine.

Cupping is a therapy in which cups are placed on the skin after suction is created. The suction of the cups increases circulation and thereby promote the healing of a broad range of ailments.

Both treatments will warm the meridians and expel cold. They can be used to promote circulation over areas of chronic pain or muscle tension.

Head Therapy

TCM head bojin is a therapeutic technique rooted in ancient Chinese medicine. It involves the gentle scraping or massage of the scalp using specialized tools, such as jade or buffalo horn gua sha boards. This practice aims to stimulate acupressure points, promote blood circulation, and release tension in the scalp and surrounding muscles.

Potential Benefits of TCM Head Bojin:

  1. Relief from Headaches and Migraines: By targeting specific acupressure points on the scalp, head bojin may help alleviate tension headaches and migraines, providing natural relief without the need for medication.

  2. Improved Hair Health: Stimulating the scalp through bojin can enhance blood flow to the hair follicles, potentially promoting hair growth and overall hair health.

  3. Stress Reduction: The gentle scraping motion of head bojin can induce relaxation and reduce stress levels, making it an excellent practice for individuals dealing with anxiety or high levels of stress.

  4. Enhanced Cognitive Function: Some proponents suggest that regular head bojin sessions may improve cognitive function by increasing blood flow to the brain and stimulating neural pathways associated with mental clarity and focus.

  5. Balancing Energy Channels: According to TCM principles, stimulating the scalp's acupressure points can help balance the flow of qi (pronounced "chee"), or vital energy, throughout the body, promoting overall health and well-being.

Food Therapy

We believe that food is medicine, and it plays an important role in our bodies innate ability to heal naturally. In Chinese medicine, foods are categorized by flavor (sweet, sour, pungent, salty, and bitter) and nature (cool, cold, warm, and hot/spicy) and how we prepare and cook food will directly affect its nature and the way it is absorbed into the body. Depending on one’s constitution or ailment, we can provide food recommendations that will help you eat your way to wellness.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine works by adjusting the balance of yin and yang in the body and harmonizing the functions of internal organs to promote health and treat diseases. Its main effects include regulating the immune system to enhance immunity and help fend off illnesses; alleviating pain, particularly chronic pain such as joint pain and headaches; promoting digestion and improving symptoms like bloating and lack of appetite; and improving sleep, calming the mind, and relieving insomnia and anxiety. In addition, TCM has anti-inflammatory properties that can be used to treat various inflammatory diseases, as well as regulating endocrine functions to help alleviate menstrual disorders and menopausal symptoms. We will work with treatment plans to provide the corresponding medicinal materials, ensuring that patients can achieve the best therapeutic effects
